According to analysts, in spite of the carrier’s $1.9 billion deal to acquire spectrum from Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) announced on Friday, AT&T still does not have as much spectrum per subscriber as Verizon.
Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S): Current price $5.55
T-Mobile has joined Sprint Nextel Corp. and Verizon in offering Zoove’s StarStar Me service, letting users replace their phone number with their name. Sprint was the first to adopt the service back in October and Verizon quietly signed on shortly thereafter. T-Mobile’s use of the personalization product solidified their place in the wireless arena. To date, Zoove has seen over 100,000 calls on the service and a StarStar Me number is called every 2 minutes in the U.S.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ): Current price $42.68
Phone Arena has nabbed a leaked internal screenshot suggesting that Verizon Communications Inc. will be introducing new prepaid pricing plans starting on February 1. Verizon has traditionally had a half-hearted approach to competing in the prepaid space and these new plans do not appear to change that. The new plans will offer users unlimited talk, text and 500MB of EVDO data for $60 a month or unlimited talk and text and 2 GB of EVDO data for $70 a month ($20 for each additional GB). The internal document proclaims this fairly dull pricing will help Verizon in gaining the competitive advantage once again.
Vodafone Group plc (NASDAQ:VOD): Current price $27.08
After Vodafone Group PLC. was widely criticized for shutting down their Egyptian network during an uprising, the company formed a cross-industry group that set an end deadline to publish proposed standards for operating in different countries without violating human rights in 2012. After missing that deadline, the lobby group Access has railed against Vodafone and their project partners including Telefonica (NYSE:TEF) and France Telecom (NYSE:FTE), calling their behavior unacceptable, reported The Telegraph.
MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE:PCS): Current price $9.75
According to his latest 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, MetroPCS Communications Inc.‘s John Paulson’s top small-cap holding is sitting at the No. 10 spot in his overall portfolio. MetroPCS is up over 47% in the past six months, and at first glance, these gains appear to have come from positive sentiment surrounding the company’s announced merger with T-Mobile USA. Since news of this deal broke on October 3rd of last year, however, shares of MetroPCS have actually lost 28.3%.
